Anyone got a lawyer friend and/or a pile of money they want to give me?
Today I got a summons from a lawyer about a credit card I have/had. They are taking me to court for defaulting on my card. I am a college student who doesn’t have a “real” job because no one wants to hire someone who doesn’t have experience and I can’t get experience until someone hires me. It isn’t like I had a 15,000 dollar credit card that I didn’t pay, it was 300 dollars and they feel like that is enough to sue me for? Aren’t there people who have massive credit card debt that would be better to spend the lawyers time pursuing? And I don’t know how you go from 3 mailed letters to taking someone to court. How many people a year default on their credit cards and loans and whatever else and never get taken to court and I would venture to guess and most people who default do so on a larger amount. And then the summons doesn’t make sense to me and I don’t know what to do.
